Maxtoke Golf Club on Thursday August 25th 2016
Whilst the weather forecast earlier in the week suggested thunderstorms and heavy rain for Thursday – we escaped with some showers but not enough to spoil our day.
The course was in wonderful condition with lush green fairways and receptive greens.
Having drawn with Hereford & Worcestershire 2nd Team earlier in the season this was a match we needed to win to secure ownership of the Morgan Trio Trophy. Although the early match results looked favourable – the final result was a narrow win for Staffordshire.
Staffordshire have therefore won the Tri Trophy for 2016.
Result : Staffordshire 11 won by 4 ½ to 3 ½
