MIDLANDS SOUTH GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP
Tuesday 27th August saw the Midlands South Girls Championship, a competition over 36 holes, hosted this year by Hereford and Worcestershire at Gaudet Luce Golf Club, Droitwitch. The event had 27 players from Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Berkshire, Buckinghsmshire and Oxfordshire and Warwickshire were well represented with 6 players competing: Lauren BESFORD & Katie DREW (Copt Heath), Hrithika BHUGVANDEEN (Harborne), Holly ELLIOTT (Nuneaton), Lilly PHELPS (The Belfry) and Megan GEE (Maxstoke Park).
The day proved to be very warm and comments from the girls were that the greens were challenging, however the Warwickshire Girls thoroughly enjoyed their day. Lilly PHELPS was our best of the day, and could have won this prestigious event had not the last grouping come in!! She had held the lead with the Best Nett score for much of the afternoon when Freya COUGHLAN (Frilford Heath) beat her into 2nd place by just 3 shots. Well done to Lilly.
