Zara HOUGHTON is the JUNIOR CHAMPION of 2019

Zara Houghton - Champion            Zara - Maisie - Kate - Grace

Warwickshire Girls Championship at Stratford Oaks Golf Course on Sunday 21 July began in cloudy and sometimes windy conditions and this continued throughout most of the day although it did warm up later.    We were warmly welcomed by Lady Captain Lesley Kiener who stayed with us all day and well into the evening.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed the course and, in most cases, romped round 36 holes with very little difficulty and as usual they delivered some brilliant results.

The Winner of the 36 Hole Gross competition was Zara HOUGHTON (Copt Heath GC) with a score of 161 and she has qualified for the EG Champion of Champions to be held at Woodhall Spa on 7 September 2019.

The runner-up of the 36 Hole Gross was Katie DREW (Copt Heath GC) also with a score of 161.   As both girls scores were equal a ‘sudden death’ playoff was necessary and Zara won at the first extra hole.

The 36 Hole Net Winner was Maisie HALSTEAD (Kenilworth GC) with a score of 139

Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship  - lowest Gross first round was Grace WILKINSON (82) (Coventry Hearsall GC), Hrithika BHUGVANDEEN (Harborne GC) also scored an 82 but was beaten on countback, lowest Net first round was Grace TOPPING (64) (Leamington & County GC) and U14 Gross was Maisie HALSTEAD (88) and they will go through to Leader Board.

Three girls qualified also for the MIDLANDS CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS OVER 36 HOLES IN 3 AGE GROUPS

U18 Holly ELLIOTT (164)                  U16 Zara HOUGHTON (161)           U14 Maisie HALSTEAD (169)

In the Girls Age Group Championship, the 18 Hole Gross winner (which is only open to girls who did not compete in the 36 Hole Competition) was Grace TOPPING with a score of 98.   Grace also won the Net prize with a score of 64

In the Under 16 Gross category the winner was Katie DREW with a score of 83 and the winner of the Net was Grace TOPPING with a score of 64

In the Under 14 Gross category the winner was Maisie HALSTEAD with a score of 88 and Maisie was also the Net winner with a score of 73.

Congratulations go to all the girls – they all played extremely well and made us proud of their golfing ability.   We are looking forward to seeing how they progress over the next year.

The morning CSS was 70, afternoon CSS was 70 and the SSS for the course is 71
