Monday 20th August saw the annual Vets' AMAM taking place, this year at Olton Golf Club. With 168 competitors, it was going to be a full day and everyone was looking forward to the format of 2 scores to count out of four, in this Stableford format. Expectations of fast greens was rife with the players and they were not disappointed, mind you the greens were very true. In fact the whole course was presented in an excellent way from tees to fairways and bunkers. The first group set off at 8.30 a.m. with the final one commencing at 3.30 p.m. and the scores being recorded throughout the day saw a range of points scored. However no-one was able to reach the fantastic total of 90 points, which off 90% handicap allowance was really something and congratulations have to go to the team recording that score.
At the Prize Presentation, Olton Lady Captain Ray DAVIES gave a belated welcome to the Vets stating how delighted she was that the event had been held at Olton during her Captaincy. After Vet's President Liz WOOLF had presented a plant to Ray in appreciation of all her efforts, she thanked all the helpers provided by Olton, on the day and gave also a special thanks to Olton GC for hosting the event, which was so well supported.
