Maisie HALSTEAD qualifies to represent Great Britain and Ireland in the US Kids Golf World Championships to be held at Pinehurst Golf Club, USA in 2017
Maisie is a member at Kenilworth Golf Club and has been part of the Warwickshire County girls coaching for 2 years. She achieved her first Congu handicap this year.
2016 was the third year that Maisie had competed in the 5-8 year old category of the Wee Wonders Grand Final at St Andrews. The event proved inspirational to her as a six year old and she had steadily improved, finishing 4th as a seven year old before winning this year.
A five shot winning margin doesn't show just how hard Maisie had to fight for the trophy after a nervous first round had left her 6 shots off the lead. A strong recovery in the second round edged Maisie into the lead and whilst the third and final round became a very tense affair, Maisie finished in style with a perfectly struck 7 iron into the middle of the final green to seal the win.
