Warwickshire Golf

The above matches were played at Lutterworth Golf Club in the afternoon on 9th June 2019.  See other fixture for the details of the matches played in the morning.

We were lucky after days of rain to have a dry day for this match though not exactly June temperatures.  The course was in good condition and we were all looking forward to finally getting out and play some golf after the appalling weather.

The 2 foursomes got off to a great start with Julia and Charlotte starting with 2 birdies in the first 3 holes and both matches ended on the 16^th with excellent wins.  Zara Houghton was playing in only her second 1^st team match and enjoyed a good win with Rachel which was great to see.  The singles however were tougher battles indeed with all 3 finishing on the 18^th after all the Warwickshire players had been down at least 3 holes on the back few holes and fighting hard to get terrific wins for Abi and Emma and a great half from Lisa.  So 4 ½ - ½ to Warwickshire at lunchtime.

The afternoon fared just as well finishing 4 – 1 so a fabulous overall win of 8 ½ - 1 ½  for Team Warwickshire.  It was an excellent debut for 16 year old Lauren Besford and although she lost her foursomes with Rachel 3&1 it was a great match and an exciting start to her 1^st team County career.

The team is now looking forward to County Match week at Frilford Heath in a few days time and feeling very upbeat after successful practice matches this Spring.
