Warwickshire Golf – Uniting for a Stronger, Inclusive Future

England Golf continues to encourage all Counties to unify, recognising the many benefits of bringing together men’s and women’s golf organisations—while proudly preserving the rich history and traditions of both sides of the game.

In Warwickshire, the Boards of the Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs and the Warwickshire Ladies County Golf Association have been engaged in constructive discussions about unification for some time. Earlier this year, both Boards unanimously voted to commit to the process. A dedicated Unification Committee—comprising three members from each executive, including both Chairpersons—was formed to lead and shape this exciting journey.

 As a result, both Boards are now recommending unification to its members during 2026.

Currently, two separate organisations represent club golfers in Warwickshire. By coming together as one unified body, we will unlock a wide range of benefits that will strengthen our County, enhance our clubs, and grow the game for all.

A Stronger, Unified Voice

• One organisation representing all golfers in Warwickshire at regional, national, and England Golf meetings.
• A single, clear strategy and vision for golf in the County, ensuring alignment and consistency across all initiatives.

Improved Club Engagement

• Clubs will benefit from streamlined communication, dealing with one organisation for services such as course rating, handicaps, refereeing, and tournament organisation.
• No more duplication—clubs will enjoy a simpler, more efficient experience when engaging with the County.

Inclusive Growth of the Game

• A unified organisation will be more attractive to new golfers, helping to grow participation across all demographics.
• Competitions and events will be designed to be accessible to golfers of all levels and abilities.
• We will be “Better Together”—stronger, more inclusive, and more impactful.

Enhanced Junior Development

• Greater focus on junior golfers and academy programmes, encouraging more young people to take up the game and become club members of the future.
• A larger pool of volunteers, especially for junior events, improving safeguarding and support on the course.

Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

• The Articles of Association will require that at least one third of the Board be male and at least one third female.
• Mixed representation will be mandated on committees and subcommittees where appropriate.
• A unified organisation will be more attractive to sponsors who value a clear commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Operational Efficiency & Collaboration

• Many joint activities are already successfully undertaken—such as safeguarding, course rating, refereeing, and junior recruitment.
• Unification will enable even more collaborative ventures, improving efficiency and impact.
• We will be better able to interact with clubs on behalf of all golfers, ensuring no one is left behind.

Unification is not about merging identities—it’s about combining strengths, celebrating our shared legacy, and building a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for golf in Warwickshire. Together, we will be more resilient, more innovative, and better equipped to grow the game for generations to come.
