Today, Monday 1st July some 43 Warwickshire players competed for the Veronica Anstey Trophy at Robin Hood Golf Club. The weather was perfect for golf with bright sunshine all day and the course was prepared in fantastic condition with very fast greens, which many of the players found difficulty in mastering.
There are always some players though who come through difficult conditions and today was no exception! The CSS for today was 76 against a par of 74 for the course (Red Tees) and it seemed to suit 2 of the ladies from Copt Heath Golf Club, as they won the Gross and Net Prizes.
The major prize winners are:
Best Gross: Claire DOWLING (Copt Heath GC) Gross 81
1st Net: Liz MOVERLEY H/C 8 (Copt Heath GC) Net 74
2nd Net: Pat APRILE H/C 16 (Stratford Oaks GC) Net 75 on back 9 from
3rd Net: Martine GILKS H/C 20 (Leamington & County GC) Net 75
Longest Drive 12th: Claire HOWELLS (Moor Hall GC)
Nearest Pin 5th: Eleanor WALFORD (Copt Heath GC)
In presenting the prizes, County Captain, Bobbi Waugh thanked Robin Hood GC for the use of the course today, the Caterers and Bar Staff together with the Ladies Captain, Sandra Kerby and helpers from Robin Hood, who had helped to make the day a success. Hon. Competition Secretary, Caroline Lassen was also thanked for organising the competition so successfully.
Once again this year, the prizes were donated by RUDDELL the Jewellers, who have stores in Harborne and Wolverhampton, and the delightful cut glass prizes were greatly appreciated by the recipients and indeed Warwickshire Ladies' County Golf Association.
