In this the first of the Vets competitions of the season, the venue was Walmley Golf Club and the sun shone for most of the day which was a great bonus after the recent April weather. Some 90 competitors played in the Better Ball Stableford format representing 19 clubs throughout the County.....
The Walmley golf course had been presented very well especially at this time early in the season and the greens were running well. That did not totally show in the scores returned as they were quite low for this format of golf, with 35 points being the highest better ball score - indeed the top dozen scores were within 3 of the leaders!

1st Prize and winning the Ellie Scott Salvers: Isobel BARTRAM & Val ORTON (Harborne GC) with 35 points
2nd Prize: Sue SHORTT (Ladbrook Park GC) & Deborah PEARMAN (The Warwickshire GC) with 35 points
3rd Prize: Linda JORDAN & Judith HINTON (Harborne GC) with 35 points
4th Prize: Mave MENDUS (Walmley GC) & Daphne SMITH (Leamington & County GC) with 34 points
5th Prize: Letty POWELL & Margaret RILEY (Walmley GC) with 34 points
Longest Drive Silver: Margaret SHEEPY (Leamington & County)
Longest Drive Bronze: Shirley HIGGINS (Maxstoke Park)
Nearest the Pin 5th: Daphne SMITH Leamington & County)
