On Monday 10th September, the Menzies Welcome Hotel Golf & County Club was the venue once again, for the 2012 Inter Club League Final

After the very closely fought Semi Finals in August, the two victorious finalists were Maxstoke Park Golf Club and Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club and they set off to see who would take the title in 2012. The weather was quite kind, dry but with little sun and quite a strong wind.

Kully WAIN (Stoneleigh) off 7 and Sheila CARDWELL (Maxstoke) off 6 started the proceedings at 9.28 a.m. with the other 6 matches coming close behind at 8 minute intervals. Several of the Warwickshire Ladies Board and Officials were out on the course for the second 9, to watch what they hoped would be a tight final. However the matches ended earlier than hoped as the first 4 games went to Stoneleigh - Match 1 was a win 3 and 2 to Kully, Match 2 had Helen DELLOW (Stoneleigh) off 7 beating Carol BANCROFT (Maxstoke) off 12, 6 and 4. Matches 3 and 4 saw Nicola WOODHOUSE (Stoneleigh) off 14, win 6 and 4 against Angele ALLEN (Maxstoke) off 12 and then Teresa Wright (Stoneleigh) off 17 also winning 6 and 4 against Stevie PARKER (Maxstoke) off 14.

At this stage Stoneleigh could not lose and as the organiser took the buggy out to the other three matches. When she caught up with them, Match No 6 Julie JENNINGS (Stoneleigh) had just won against Lin PILLAGE (Maxstoke) 5 and 3, Match 5 were All Square (after 14 holes) and the final match had just been won 7 and 5 by Pauline O'DELL (Maxstoke) who was drawn against Margaret WHITEHEAD (Stoneleigh) off 24.

It was decided by the League Organiser, Bev BATES together with the 2 League Captains, that the final score should be Stoneleigh Deer Park 5 1/2 matches to Maxstoke Park 1 1/2.

After lunch, the presentation took place, fistly to Glenda LORAM, Team Captain of the runners-up, Maxstoke and then to Nicola WOODHOUSE, League Captain of Stoneleigh. Nicola thanked her players for pulling off this victory at the first attempt of getting to the final and said how delighted she and her team were. She thanked The Menzies Welcome Golf Course greenstaff for preparing the course in such an excellent condition and then went on to thank the Maxstoke Team (who were the winners in 2011)

Glenda, Team Captain from Maxstoke responded by thanking the organiser, Bev BATES and congratulated Stoneleigh on their fine win. She said that they seemed to be inspired today and played some great golf. She then went on to thank the caddies, particularly her husband Peter and also the Captain of Maxstoke, who caddied for the Lady Captain, Lin PILLAGE.

County Captain, Bobbi WAUGH said a special 'thank you' to The Menzies Welcome for allowing the County once again to use their course for this prestigious final, and to all who had made this day run so smoothly.
