The Pairs Competition at Stonebridge Golf Centre

Event Overview

The pairs competition took place at Stonebridge Golf Centre on 14 October 2025 and was played on both the Blythe and Somers courses. The event saw participation from 36 players, representing 18 different clubs, all vying for victory in a better ball Stableford format. To qualify for this competition, each pair had previously secured their spot by winning the silver and bronze divisions at their respective club competitions.

Conditions and Venue

The day was predominantly grey, with drizzle persisting for most of the event. Fortunately, there was no wind to further challenge the players. Stonebridge Golf Centre boasts 27 holes arranged across three loops of nine, as well as a driving range equipped with Trackman screens and systems. Additionally, players have access to both a putting and a chipping green. The club also caters to younger golfers, offering a newly constructed, woodland-themed crazy golf course featuring 18 holes.

Acknowledgements

Special thanks are extended to Will Newcombe, Manager of the Centre, the Lady Captain, Marlene Simmons, who dedicated her entire day to supporting the event. Appreciation also goes to Geoff Lane, who acted as the starter, and Debbie Reynolds, who organised the ball sweep that successfully raised £92 for the County Girls. Gratitude is expressed to everyone who contributed to the day's success. A final thanks is given to Mark Reynolds for serving as referee throughout the competition.
