WLCGA Inter Club Foursomes Knock Out Final 2025
The Warwickshire Inter Club Foursomes final for 2025 was played at Olton GC on Wednesday 17th September.
The finalists were both previous winners of the competition: Harborne GC (2022 and 2024) and Rugby GC (2023).
Each team consists of four players who play two foursomes matches, over the full 18 holes. The winners are the team with the highest number of holes won over the two matches.
Harborne: Sue Blackledge, Caroline Porter, Debbie Naylor & Mary Fraise
Rugby: Sue Jones, Deb Harrad, Sandra Brazier & Judith Pegler
After a long, dry Summer, unfortunately there had been heavy rain overnight and early morning, which became heavy drizzle during the course of the day, so the long-running Summer conditions were over for the year it seems. The players donned their waterproofs and set out at around 10:30 to face the challenge.
The first match was between Judith Pegler and Sandra Brazier of Rugby giving 3 shots to Sue Blackledge and Caroline Porter of Harborne. The Rugby pair won this match by 5 holes.
The second match between Sue Jones and Deb Harrad of Rugby, giving 1 shot to Mary Fraise and Debbie Naylor of Harborne, was very closely fought, and ended all square.
Rugby therefore won the competition by 5 holes – Congratulations!

Everyone enjoyed a well-earned lunch of Chicken Caesar salad with chips after their game.

Can another club win next year, or will it be Rugby or Harborne again? “You have to be in it to win it” as they say, so I look forward to receiving your club’s entry to the competition for 2026 in due course.
