Series 3 of the Warwickshire Girls Stableford Series ended on Sunday 7 September at the North Warwickshire Golf Club. A bolt of lightening heralded the event but fortunately passed swiftly by and the girls enjoyed a lovely mild day at a course which none had played previously and could not have been more welcoming to us all!
Twelve girls had entered the competition but unfortunately on the day, only 9 were able to play with 4 girls playing 18 holes and 5 girls playing 9 holes. Jessica Davies came in with 35 points and secured another 1st place in the series. Jess has played some excellent golf this year, reduced her handicap to 5.1 and is fast chasing the top 3! Well done Jess! In 2nd place with 33 points was Isla Pallett who has come on superbly this year and this was another good round following her success at the Girls Championship.
In the 9 hole event, 4 girls with handicaps challenged and it was a delighted Georgia Pagett who came in with a brilliant 23 points! Congratulations Georgia, what a score!
In 2nd place and just beating Amelia Crawford was Grace Hemmings with 18 points. These 3 girls have been a great support of the series this year and it’s been so exciting to see their handicaps reduce.
Playing in her final Futures event with us as she has now put in enough cards for handicap was Mairi MacLeod. Mairi more than proved she is worthy of a handicap as she came in with a sensational 26 points! Well done Mairi, you too have supported all our events this year.
My thanks go to the club who could not have been more welcoming, helpful and supportive of us. David Hartley, the club Honorary Secretary started the girls off but it was the joint Lady Captains, Bernadette May and Sandra May who surpassed themselves and rallied a wonderful team of ladies to chaperone girls on the course, act as spotters, run the bar and generally look after and support the girls and me! Their help was just wonderful and being at North Warwickshire was a really lovely end to the series.
But who has won the series? All will be revealed at the Pre Season event in 2026 but I might have given it away ....
