The Warwickshire Schools Girls Amateur Championship was played on Monday at Coventry Hearsall Golf Club in conjunction with the Boys Championship. As ever the club were extremely welcoming to the girls and parents, the course was in wonderful condition and the day amazingly sunny! The girls play as individuals, but if their school can field a team of three (mixed) the winning team goes forward to the National Schools Team Championship later in the year.
Individually there are overall Gross, Runner Up and age category (school year) prizes. There are also nett prizes but these are from the mixed results and the boys did rather dominate this year with some outstanding scoring! There were some brilliant scores from many of the 13 girls who had entered and every girl should be congratulated on what was a very warm and long day!
There were 3 excellent gross scores from Serafima Taylor (74), Jessica Davies (78) and Maisie Halstead (79). I believe that Jess’s 78 gross was her best ever!
Many were below the par of 71 with their nett scores: Anaya Sukhija (65), Jess Davies (65), Grace Walkden (68), Georgina Priestley (69), Serafima Taylor (70) and Seren Hylton (70)
Results are follows:
