Home Players win Trophies at Rugby

The 3 Ball Alliance at Rugby Golf Club on Thursday 12th October, was the last WVLGA competition of the season.  The weather was extremely kind given the forecast of heavy rain during the morning.  21 teams of 3 played, the course was in great condition, and preferred lies allowed. The competition ran really well with the 10 minute tee time intervals and there was a real buzz in the  clubhouse as ladies came after their game. A very successful day.

The winners were:

1st Place  Judith Peglar, Susan Jones and Caroline Brown from Rugby with 81 points

2nd Place Jayne Hayles (pictured), Sue Wilkins an Elizabeth Mason from Oakridge with 75 points

3rd Place  Andrea Mace, Angie Barnett and Alicia Isles from Oakridge with 72 points

The competition was followed by the 69th AGM of WVLGA and as it turns out, the day represented the last competition and AGM for the ‘Vets’ as such.  From 2024 we will be a Seniors subsection  of The Warwickshire Ladies County Golf Association (WLCGA) . Competitions  will continue just as they have been with 5 per year, with all ladies reaching the age of 50 and above and who are members of a Warwickshire Club, being able to play in the Senior Ladies Competitions - and with no £5 annual subscription fee. It is hoped that the automatic ‘senior’ status  will also encourage more eligible ladies to play in the Senior matches too.
