Warwickshire Golf
Midlands South Girls Team Stableford 9 August 2023
A team of girls represented Warwickshire in the Midlands South Region Team Stableford at Bromsgrove Golf Club on 9 August. Six counties were represented with 6 girls selected by each county, two in each of 3 handicap groups; up to 12.4, 12.4 to 20.4 and 20.5 to 36.4. Unfortunately we were unable to replace one of our girls who had to drop out, so 5 played although only the best 4 scores on the day count towards the trophy.
Our team of Arianna Virik, Maisie Halstead, Jessica Davies, Arisha Virik and Lauren Clarke all played well in windy conditions on this tricky and hilly course with some challenging pin positions. All groups of 3 were accompanied by a ‘walker’ and thanks go to Lynne Pearson for her support, especially as the course seems mountainous when not golfing!
Although early results from all 6 counties were very close, Worcestershire & Herefordshire were worthy winners when their last girl came in with an excellent 39 points. Runners up were Berkshire with Warwickshire in 5th place.
