The team all arrived safely at Harborne Golf Club having navigated the morning traffic. From the elevated clubhouse position the course looked to be in good condition and that was to be the case.
We got off to a solid start in the morning foursomes with Shaun & Nev recording a heathy 4&3 win. With a trial separation of Neale/Spencer partnership, both new pairings losing, Warwickshire went into lunch tied 3 to 3. This had the makings of another tight match…
After a huge lunch of sandwiches and chips the fourball games got underway, it wasn’t long before the rain clouds began to gather, and we experienced a short but heavy rain shower.
After the rain the greens softened slightly and were simply magnificent to putt on.
The team performed to a high standard in the afternoon, all six games were won by heathy margins.
The final match result was Warwickshire 15 – 3 Northamptonshire
We all ate our dinner of Chicken in White Wine Sauce with gusto; happy in the knowledge we had played some great golf.
Thank you to Harborne Golf Club for the warm hospitality it extended to us during the day. The course was in great condition and a pleasure to play, the food was delicious and thoroughly enjoyable.
To Gary Grimmit and his Northamptonshire team, thank you for an enjoyable game and all the best for rest of the season.
