Boys Matchplay Final at Stratford on Avon GC on 5th August 2022
Congratulations to Ryan Gavin who beat Lennon O'Neill-Knibbs in the 36 hole final by 12 & 10.
A sunny day greeted the two finalist, who were supported by WUGC President Mark Reynolds for the morning round. Ryan continued to play solid golf making no mistakes as he finished the first eighteen holes eight up. In the afternoon WUGC Immediate Past President Graham Barton supported the players. Lennon supported by several family members needed a fast start to the afternoon round to cut the deficit, however, Ryan continued to play solid golf rarely giving Lennon the opportunity to win a hole. By the eight hole of the afternoon round, Ryan holed a twenty foot putt for a birdie to win the match. The match was played in great spirit between two talented junior golfers.
