Copt Heath take the Team Championships Double

The Inter Club Team Championships for the County were held at Robin Hood Golf Club on 6th September 2021.
105 ladies from 21 clubs entered our County event, with a two tee start from 8.30am. The sun was shining from the off, and by lunchtime it was blisteringly hot, with little wind. Those of us organising had the advantage of air con within the Clubhouse (thank you, Robin Hood!), and many of those playing found it a hot, hot, day!
The scores for the day were just as hot, and Copt Heath Golf Club managed to win both the gross score trophy (The Chipman Cup) with an aggregate of the best 4 of 5 players scores (327) and the net trophy (The Daisy Hartill Trophy) with an aggregate of the best 4 of 5 players scores coming in with 306.
The winner of the individual best net score (The Veronica Anstey Trophy) was Lesley James from Robin Hood Golf Club with 72.
Everyone commented on the course at Robin Hood - the groundsmen were out watering the greens from 6am, and it showed, as it was all in excellent condition! The ladies at Robin Hood were just fabulous - all in uniform, and staffing the ball sweep, starting positions and food orders, as well as gracefully moving around the room, checking in with everyone and ensuring that every need was catered for. Really, ladies - a wonderful effort - and an enormous help to WLCGA - thank you all. Particular thanks to the helpers of the one lady who wasn’t well during her round, who said her fellow competitors and the volunteers and staff at Robin Hood were just wonderful.
The ball sweep raised a magnificent £226.00 which will go to supporting WLCGA Junior Development - indeed, there were a few great scores from our Juniors / Young Ladies who were playing in the championships, so the development work is certainly paying off!
A stunning day - topped off with Team Europe win at the Solheim Cup, which I think was on everyone’s mind as they raced home to catch the last few matches and watch the result!
