RENE GREEY TROPHY WON BY MARRIOTT FOREST OF ARDEN
The Rene Greey trophy for Past Captains was contested on 4 October 2021 at Shirley GC, with a field of 64 ladies playing foursomes stableford.
Lady Vice-Captain of Shirley, Di Wood, welcomed everyone saying that she had prayed for good weather. Her prayer was answered in part as there was fair weather in the morning (when the Shirley ladies went out) but this was followed by torrential rain showers from 1pm onwards.
It is traditional at this event that the entry fee includes lunch, and a delicious meal was presented by the caterers, Chris and Jacqui. Our thanks to them and also to all the Shirley ladies who acted as starters and who ran the ball sweep, raising £135.20 for the junior girls.
The winners were Debbie Poynton and Jean Warner from the Marriott Forest of Arden with 39 points. The runners up were Jeanette Mumford and Anne Wardle from Walmley with 36 points and third on countback, Julie Baker and Helen Orton from the Marriott Forest of Arden (33 points).
