2020 Peter McEvoy Trophy - postponed

Copt Heath Golf Club have taken the inevitable decision to postpone the running of the Peter McEvoy Trophy, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 16th and Friday, April 17th, due to the Coronavirus.

The traditional curtain raiser to the boy's golf season had received entries from a strong field of international under-18’s amateur golfers but will hopefully take place later in the year, assuming health conditions improve.

Copt Heath Golf Club General Manager Tony Moon said: “Following the Coronavirus - (Covid 19) outbreak, and in light of government advice, our welfare commitment to our members and the competitors, the Committee have taken the difficult decision to postpone the 40th Peter McEvoy Trophy.

“We have initially re-scheduled the trophy for September with the Practice Day on Wednesday 2nd, and the competition Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September 2020. We will keep everyone fully informed as matters unfold over the next few weeks.”

Ireland’s Tom McKibbin, who represents Rory McIlroy’s home club Holywood, was successful in a play-off last year, as he joined a high quality list of previous winners that includes Lee Westwood (pictured) and Justin Rose, who both went on top the world professional rankings.
