Olton Pair win first Winter Alliance for 2020

Ladies from 22 clubs swung into action in the Winter Alliance Greensomes at Leamington & County Golf Club today for the first event on the WLCGA 2020 calendar.
The winning pair from Olton Golf Club were Hilary Dixon and Susan McKenna with 34 points on countback from runners-up Mary Fraise and Rahela Gordon of Harborne Golf Club.
The weather proved to be the third winner on the day providing bursts of sunshine and particularly mild temperatures for January with no wind. However the scores reflected the long playing condition of this well-presented course and despite the excessive rainfall over the last few months the greens were receptive, true and boasted an excellent putting surface for this time of year.
Leamington & County is always a particular favourite with the Warwickshire Ladies and everyone was made extremely welcome by the Lady Captain, Angela Eadon, and our thanks are extended to Angela together with her team of helpers who greeted competitors and provided refreshing coffee and biscuits at the half-way stage.
The raffle for the Warwickshire Girls raised £70 and the event was expertly organised by Jane Murphy on the day.
