SHIRLEY PAIR WIN RENE GREEY TROPHY
Coventry Golf Club was the venue for the 2019 Rene Greey Trophy competition for Lady Past Captains from within Warwickshire golf clubs and this year some 32 pairs had been entered by their Clubs. This annual day, 7th October 2019 is one that is looked forward to by Past Captains as not only it is a good opportunity to play in one of the last tournaments of the season, it is a time to renew old friendships and take a leisurely lunch after play. Not that many thought they would be playing as the forecast for the day was awful and the rain experienced in the days leading up to Monday had been so heavy. Calls to the club, checks on the websites of both Coventry and Warwickshire first thing confirmed that the course was open and we were playing and apart from rain at the start of play, the weather in fact was quite pleasant for playing golf.
The course was in excellent condition, considering the conditions and the greens were still running very fast, albeit quite tricky as many found and most of us realised that this could be the start of winter golf!! Lunch was delicious and enjoyed by all.
As on many occasions, one of the last pairs to hand their card in posted the highest score in this Foursomes Stableford format and I am delighted to say that score was recorded by my partner Lynne and myself. We were more than shocked!!!

Julia thanked Coventry GC for hosting this prestigious event and for all the help given to our Competition team by the Coventry members.
