Warwickshire Golf

What a beautiful day to play golf with lots of sunshine, a few clouds and even a little breeze to cool us down.  The Olton GC venue for the Summer Meeting held on Monday 22nd July saw the course in fantastic condition in every way with the greens running fast but true, although a few of us bemoaned the fact that it was difficult to get the ball in the hole.  68 players had entered this Better Ball Medal competition and how good it was to see so many of our own Junior players participating and with lots of prizes to compete for, this was just the day for good scoring - we were not disappointed.

As we passed the marker for the longest drive on the 18th, most of us marvelled at the distance this had been hit by Holly ELLIOTT, indeed some of us even made the marker with our second shot!!  Good to see that it was one of our Juniors who had taken this accolade.  Other Junior Prize winners were Holly and partner Roxanne who won the Runners Up prize for Best Net. We even had Mother and Daughter winners in  Hilary and Ottilie DIXON, winning Best Net of the Day

At the Prize Presentation, Olton Lady Captain Christina KENNEDY gave a belated welcome to everyone, hoping that all had enjoyed their day in the sun at Olton.  Julia BURTON, County Captain responded by thanking Olton for allowing WLCGA to host this competition at the Club.  She also thanked the starters and also Pat at the Halfway House for looking after us halfway round the course.  She then commenced the Prize Presentation, as below:
