CLAIRE HOWELLS IS VETS CHAMPION
The Vet's Championship saw 46 players competing for the many trophies on Wednesday 26th June and thank goodness the rain had stopped, resulting in a pleasant day to play golf. The venue was Kenilworth Golf Club, with the format being a Medal round and the course was presented extremely well after the heavy recent rain. Bunkers were to be avoided if possible as some of the field found to their cost and the rough quite difficult to get out of. The greens though good, proved quite difficult. Thus the scores were quite high for this time of the year, resulting in great news at the end the day that for handicap purposes, it was Reduction only!!
At the end of the day the Lady Captain from Kenilworth welcomed the assembled company to the Club and hoped that everyone had enjoyed their time at the Club, both on the course and in the clubhouse. She was then presented with an orchid by the Vet's President.
Liz Woolf, Vet's President in her speech, thanked Kenilworth for their hospitality, particularly those from the ladies' section who had helped on the day. As Liz herself had played, she recognised how challenging it had been playing but also hoped that everyone had had an enjoyable day. She then presented the prizes, as below:
