LADIES COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY ONE

Monday 13th May saw the first day of the Warwickshire Ladies' County Championship, this year held at Moor Hall Golf Club.

The weather today was just fantastic for golf, blue sky, wall to wall sunshine and just a gentle breeze.  The course at Moor Hall looked to be in fantastic condition and with ironed greens running quite fast, really there should be some good scores recorded, however golf does not always go the way you expect it to go!!  Compliments to the Greens staff for presenting such a great course for this hiogh profile tournament.  Today there are three competitions played, one of 36 holes to qualify for the knockout stages on Thursday and Friday, 18 holes playing for the Silver Division Medal and finally the Senior Championship played over 18 holes.

The qualifying rounds (36 holes) for the Championship initially had 18 players, but on the day this had reduced to just 16, meaning that the 16 players would automatically go forward to the knockout stages on Thursday morning, 16th May.

The Silver Division Medal competition was played over 18 holes by all competitors and will be awarded to the players with the best Net score, and in total there were 40 players.

The final competition was the Senior Championship, for players over 50 years on the day of the Championship and today there were 28 entered, and this was also played over 18 holes, with the winner having the best Gross score.

All prizes for today's events will be presented on Friday 17th May at 4.30 approximately when the 2019County Champion will also be crowned.
