GIRLS 1st STABLEFORD COMPETITION

The first of the Stableford Series was played at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on Sunday 7 April 2019.  It was a cloudy day and very cold in the morning although it did warm up slightly by the afternoon.   As usual, the course was magnificent with lots of run on the ball and very fast greens.   Also, as usual, the girls played magnificently.

Grateful thanks must go to the Club at Sutton Coldfield for allowing us to hold this competition annually and to the ladies of Sutton Coldfield who performed above and beyond in their level of hospitality.    Special thanks to Sue Foster, Ladies Secretary who co-ordinated all the helpers accompanying the girls round the course.   These ladies made sure that the girls correctly followed the Rules of Golf, made sure the recording of scores was correct and that the cards were signed and completed.   Carol Regan the current Ladies Captain was there all day making sure that everything ran smoothly. A special thank you to Ruth Watson who took photographs of all the girls as they prepared to tee off and also took pictures of all the winners.

Unfortunately, Sylvia Evans was unable to be with us this year so the Salvers and prizes were presented by Carol Regan the Lady Captain.

In the 18 hole Competition, Arianna VIRIK from Kenilworth Golf Club, playing off 32, scored 44 points, and was the winner of the first Stableford of the series and the Sylvia Evans Salver – (a prize which is now an annual event), followed by Holly ELLIOTT from Oakridge Golf Club playing off 16 who scored 41 points

In the 9 hole competition the winner was Aoife Cannon from Hatchford Brook Golf Club playing off 54 who scored 25 points (and is the winner of the Sylvia Evans Salver for 9 Hole Players)   followed by Grace Topping from Leamington & County Golf Club playing  off 42 who scored 21 points.

In the 9 hole Futures competition (for girls who do not yet has a CONGU handicap) the winner was Lilli-Mae Nicholls from Robin Hood Golf Club with 27 points and runner up was Justine Buhour from Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club with 25 points.

Special thanks also to Patrick Brady, the Professional who was out on the course making sure that all the girls knew where they were going and his Assistant Pro. Adam who managed the putting competition an event which is thoroughly enjoyed by the girls.  The winners were Megan Price, Roxanne Lindsay and Ottillie Dixon and they all won a sleeve of balls

Another very successful day
