COUNTY MATCH WEEK IS UPON US
In a somewhat changed format, the 2018 Midlands South County Match week is in fact being trialled over 2 1/2 days, commencing Monday 18th June. Midlands South region has decided this year to play the matches over this length as some of the counties were finding difficulty in fielding a team for 5 days due to a combinatiion of reasons, but mainly cost and availability of players over the five day period due to work or school commitments. The Counties within the Midlands South region having decided to trial the 2 1/2 day competition, will be assessing the outcome soon after the event with other Regions over England watching with great interest, as some too might consider moving to this format.
Midlands South Region consists of teams from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire & Herefordshire with Buckinghamshire hosting the event for 2018 at Denham Golf Club. The Warwickshire squad of 12 is as listed below and we wish them well in their endeavours:

Everyone in the squad with the exception of Emily SPIES has experience of playing in matches during previous County Match weeks which should give the team some stability. Emily playing off a handicap of 4 and aged 18 is excited about her first encounter at this level and is due to go off to the USA to study later in the year.
The daily format is that each morning and afternoon, Warwickshire will be playing a different County commencing either on the first or tenth tee and there will be 2 Foursomes matches and 3 Singles matches in each session. On day 1, Monday 18th June Warwickshire are drawn against Oxfordshire, teeing off on the 10th hole commencing 08.50 a.m.
