U14 Boys versus Staffordshire at Stone Golf Club

Saturday 19th May 2018 –

Stone Golf Club, Stone, Staffs

The teams first away match of the year for the U14’s saw us make the trip to Stone on a perfect sunny and hot Saturday afternoon.

Again a 9 hole course, tight and rather undulating but in excellent condition.

Staffordshire consistently provide one of the sterner tests for the Boys at all ages and this was reflected across the 5 matches where only 1 or 2 shots were being given to the opposing pair.

At times it looked like Warwickshire could leave as comfortable winners with Seb and Channon once again setting the pace well out in front and winning their match.  Oliver and Sam put up sterling fight but on the day it just wasn’t to be.  In the middle Finlay and Sachin looked to be relatively comfortable only for the Staffs boys to put up a great comeback and take the match to the 18th where a win on the hole secured them half a point.

We saw George and Lennon lose out 4&2 all of which required our final match to be a win for the draw on the day.

Edward and Ryan as two of our newest County players put on a display to be proud of taking their match to the 18th Par 3 with both hitting the green whilst their opponents went out of bounds resulting in a win and the match drawn!

Once again a superb team effort, and a great result versus a confident Staffordshire team.

Thanks go to County President, Graham Barton, for attending to support the boys and for his words of encouragement.

Well done to all the boys who have played across the two matches so far.

Thanks to the parents for their ongoing support and to everyone else who has attended to support and encourage.

Without all of you these results wouldn’t be possible.

U14 Boys Manager and Head of Boys Golf
