North Warwickshire GC was the venue for the first Alliance of 2018 and what an excellent venue it was. Most of the competitors had feared playing yesterday, Monday 15th as the weather forecast for the day was, to say the least awful but in true British spirit everyone turned up and were delighted to be playing as, apart from about 30 mins of light rain, we had sunshine, dark clouds and wind, not to mention a fantastic rainbow - much better than anticipated. North Warwickshire course was in excellent condition for the time of year and for those of us who have been used to walking round our courses which are extremely wet underfoot, it was a pleasure to be walking and playing on firmer ground. The greens were extremely good with the ball running very true.
Greensomes was the format of the day and as the scores were posted, no-one was burning up the course. Indeed 33 points was the leading score for a long time until three scores in a row were posted from the end of the field with 34 points! - Countback was required!
At the Prize Presentation, County President Caroline LASSEN thanked the Club for hosting the event and for the very warm welcome given to all by members of the club, all mentioned by name. Particular thanks were given to North Warwickshire Lady Captain, Di BLAKE for her organisation and help during the event and to Mr Captain who acted as starter for the morning. A good number of players stayed until the presentation after enjoying some excellent food and warming drinks. The Ball Sweep raised £55 which will go towards the Junior fund.
Caroline presented the winning prizes to the pair from The Warwickshire G & CC - Cathy WISE and Pat HAWTHORN who registered 34 points and then to the Runners Up from Stratford upon Avon GC - Jane HOSKIN and Joy WELLAN, who also had 34 points.
