The 2017 Rene Greey Trophy competition was scheduled to be played at Edgbaston on October 2 but very poor weather/course conditions forced a cancellation. With Edgbaston unable to offer an alternative date, Coventry Hearsall came up trumps and offered a date of October 30 and happily the competition was played before the season ended.
Sixty Past Captains participated and the weather was remarkably sunny, dry and warm for the time of year. Format of the day was Foursomes Stableford.
The winning team was Angela DAWSON and Karen DODSON of Copt Heath with 33 points, and the runners-up (on countback) Janice EDWARDS and Tina PLATT of Coventry Hearsall with 32 points. Third place went to Sheila ARMSTRONG and Lynne PEARSON of Shirley, with fourth place going to Chris LEES and Diana PHILLIPS of Leamington and County. Longest drive was won by Bev FIDDES (Walmley) and nearest the pin by Angela DAWSON (Copt Heath).
After play all competitors stayed for an enjoyable meal and the atmosphere in the clubhouse was excellent.
