The first of the Stableford Series was played at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on Sunday 17 April 2016.  It was a beautiful sunny day despite a very cold wind blowing in the background.   The course performed magnificently despite the rain/snow/sleet in the past 24 hours and there was lots of run on the ball (provided the shot was straight!)   Once again the scores were magnificent.

Grateful thanks must go to the ladies at Sutton Coldfield who performed above and beyond in their level of hospitality.    Special thanks to Sue Foster, Ladies Secretary and Marion Sweet the current Ladies Captain who were there all day making sure that everything ran smoothly and spending quite a lot of time in the kitchen washing up.  And a special mention must go to Janet Harrison and Hilary Stafford who spent all day making up sandwiches and serving beans on toast etc to starving girls when they had completed their round.

In the 18 hole Competition, Preeya SINGH from The Warwickshire Golf Club, playing off 27, scored 41 points, and was the second winner of the Sylvia Evans Salver – a prize which is now an annual event), followed by Lauren BEAMAN from Moor Hall, playing off 10, (to the delight of the members present as she is also a member of Sutton Coldfield) and who scored 36 points

In the 9 hole competition the winner was Laura SMITTEN, playing off 50, who scored 25 points (and is the first winner of the Sylvia Evans Salver for  9 Hole Players)   (again Sutton Coldfield wish to make this an annual event) - closely followed by Maisie HALSTEAD from Kenilworth, playing off 49,  who scored 23 points

In the 6 hole competition the winners were Emily MORRISON of Robin Hood, playing in her first County competition, and Mia BAKSH from Sutton Coldfield both of whom played extremely well.

All the girls who played in the 9 hole and 6 hole competitions were accompanied around the course by a volunteer who helped them to follow the Rules of Golf, keep score and complete their cards.   We are very grateful to them for giving up their time to do this.

In all we had 7 girls playing in their first County competition which is extremely pleasing.

Patrick Brady, the Club Professional, organised a putting and chipping competition and this was greatly enjoyed by the girls.  Sincere thanks go to Patrick for his hard work

All in all a successful day.

Pictured with Preeya and Laura is Sylvia EVANS, member at Surron Coldfield Ladies GC and who donated the two Salvers.  Grace was presented with a Trophy by County President, Jane DENNICK for being the most improved golfer in 2015.  (This should have been awarded in February, at the get together when the other 2015 awards were presented, but at wich Grace was unable to attend).  The Group photo shows the Chipping and Putting Winners with Sutton Coldfield Professional, Patrick BRADY.
