Warwickshire Girls V Northampton Girls League Match at Cold Ashby
Once again the Warwickshire Girls’ Scratch Team turned out to play Northampton aiming to take all the games as far as they could. Lead by Captain Lauren Beaman, Moor Hall, the team played to the best of their ability but as yet do not have the range of skills to take on the low handicap team from Northants.
Jessica McGhee, Rugby, came the closest to securing a victory in the scratch games eventually losing 2 and 1 against Hattie Billson. Katie Lyth, Copt Heath, and Megan Gee, Maxstoke, managed to take their games to the 16th holes. The other girls representing their County in the scratch matches were Captain Lauren with Katie Drew, Shirley and Jessica Walker from Nuneaton.
In the handicap and experience matches Maisie Halstead, Kenilworth, came out on top winning 4/3, Holly Elliott, Oakridge, won 2/1 and Zara Houghton, Copt Heath had a resounding victory 9/7.
The other team members in the handicap and experience matches were Laura White, Nuneaton, Victoria Beard, Shirley and Roxanne Lindsay, Coventry.
The final combined result was 9 - 3 to Northampton.
The girls always play their games in great spirit and are a credit to the County. CJO Jane Brennan would like to congratulate the girls who played in their first league matches Katie Drew, Jessica Walker, Laura White, Holly Elliott, Roxanne Lindsay and Zara Houghton. This is a new young team and hopefully they will become a strong successful team in the future.
