Warwickshire Girls V Warwickshire Lady Vets - Sunday 14th May - Henley Golf Club
Both teams fielded strong teams with some very experienced Vets offering their time to support the development of a keen young Girls’ team. Before the match Margaret SHEEPY, Warwickshire County Captain, presented all the girls with a County player bag tag showing that they had represented their County.
In all cases the Vets had to give shots to the girls but despite this they put up a good fight. Although many of the girls’ handicaps had come tumbling down last year the Vets were unable to prevent a 6 nil win for the girls. It soon became clear that we should expect the girls’ handicaps to be reduced considerably again this summer. We are all looking forward to tracking their progress.
Jane Brennan County Junior Organiser would like to thank all the Lady Vets for giving up their time to help to nurture and encourage our Junior Girls Team. The County is very fortunate to have a young very keen squad of girls at present who work very well as a team despite representing a number of different clubs. They have formed great friendships through the County Coaching Programme which helps considerably when they come together.
All the girls are to be congratulated for their performances with a special mention to Holly Elliott, Katie Drew, Zara Houghton, Roxanne Lindsay and Jessica Walker who played in their first County matches.
Jane Brennan, Junior County Organiser
