The all important last game of the league season gave us a home fixture v Derbyshire. With only one change from the team that was victorious last month v Worcestershire, we came into the match confident but certainly not complacent.
We kept in place the pairings that have consistently delivered results match after match. Dave Mason and Tim Cooley led out and duly won their morning foresomes 2-1. Matches 2,3 and 4 also recorded wins as did match 6. Andrew Carman and Pete Gordon narrowly lost out on the last green to Derbyshire Captain Paul Longden and his partner, this would ultimately "˜fuel the fire' for Andrew and Pete in the afternoon round.
Morning Foresomes Result:
Warwickshire Won 5 matches and Lost 1.
Warwickshire 5 points - Derbyshire 1 points.
Derbyshire came out fighting in the afternoon, but the first match concluding with a Warwickshire win settled things down. After Ken Spencer and Roger Neale had secured a win in Match 3 the League title had been guaranteed. It was left to Andrew and Pete to ensure the win which they did with a 2-1 victory. Anchor pair Dylan Ward and Andy Sheard followed up with a further Warwickshire win rounding off a very satisfying day for the triumphant Bears!!
Afternoon Fourball Result:
Warwickshire Won 4 matches and Lost 2. Warwickshire 8 points - Derbyshire 4 points.
The overall result therefore was a Warwickshire win 13 points to 5 points.

To Paul Longden, Captain of Derbyshire for his generous words and his team who played with spirit and sportsmanship .Thank you to the following members of The Warwickshire Board who consistently give support and encouragement to The Warwickshire Seniors; Bob Harrison, John Duncombe, Graham Barton and Mark Reynolds. To Deb Reynolds and Pete Clarke who continue to support the players with all important caddying duties. We have one further non league fixture this season, 1st September 2022 at Nuneaton GC v Nottinghamshire. We shall be putting out a very strong side in our attempt to go through the whole of the 2022 season undefeated.
As West Midlands League Champions this year we qualify to play in a Midland league play off fixture v the winners of the East Midlands League. This will be played 7th September 2022 at Thonock Park, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
