Boys Summer Review

If like me you have ventured outside in the last day or two and that despite the promises made by the forecasters you realise the glorious, long, hot summer predicted didn’t materialise (again!), Autumn is well on its way.

I thought it a useful point to take stock and drop you a note.

Its been a crazy packed July and August.  For some of you, you’ve travelled the length and breadth of the United Kingdom enabling and supporting your Son not just for County but International, National, tours, matches and events.

So first off from all the Boys to You the Parents a BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!  We/ They couldn’t do it without you (whether they show it or not, they know it 😊)

We are closing out our County matches with just a few dates left.  Details below.

We’ve had a great Summer, despite Covid, commitments, holidays, injuries… trying their best to stop us.   We also had a large number of boys across the age groups making their County debuts. 👏🏻👏🏻

Our U18s ran L&R to the very end finishing a close second place at the England Regional Boys 6’s.

However, I am delighted to announce the U18s have won all of their league matches and will now play in the Midland Boys league final at Shrewsbury on Oct 3rd.

Our U16s found it a tough year.  Losing several of our key players at each of the matches for a wide variety of reasons.  Despite this they put up a valiant performance in their 3 matches to date.  Fingers crossed this has stood them well for the one match remaining against Derbyshire on 12th September and the U16’s County Championships on 17th October.

Our U14s a new, young and largely inexperienced group, who didn’t have the benefit of the slightly older boys playing last year due to Covid again found it hard yards, but showed real togetherness and fighting spirit at their 3 matches and the 4 counties tournament.  They have one event left, this Sunday the U14s Ten Counties so very best of luck to the Boys representing us there.

Outside of this we have the 2021 coaching to wrap up for those of you involved in one of the programs, and the Warks Junior Order of Merit Final on Sunday 19th September for those lucky ones who have qualified through the Club Opens this Summer.

And sadly for some of the Boys this brings to an end your time in Warwickshire Boys Golf.

To Alex, Niall, Charlie, Liam, Lucas and Joe, we “Thank you”.  Thank you for all you have done, your commitment, your endeavours, at times your humour and wit but most of all the time you have given over the past X years.  You’ve been with us since you were 12 or there abouts and collectively we have had the joy of seeing you grow, develop, and become accomplished Young golfers and model Young men.

Good luck in all you go onto do personally, professionally and with your golf.  We hope to see you turning out for the Mens team in the very near future!

Thank you all again.  Here’s to finishing this year off in style and stepping back into the ranges for winter practice and coaching.
