VET'S AM AM at COVENTRY GC
Well what a day, at last! 156 players entered into the Vet's AM AM Stableford at Coventry Golf Club on Monday 16th August and what a day it was. With a field that strong their were some early starters - 8.30 a.m. in fact - with the last group gouing out at 3.00 p.m. Two teams must not have been delighted with their scores as their cards were not handed in!!
Lady Captain of Coventry, Maggie Bourton having been second out in the morning returned for the Prize Presentation and gave a few words of welcome and hoped that everyone had enjoyed their day both on the course and in the clubhouse (how normal that now sounds!!) Vet's President, Val Barker presented Maggie with a plant as a small token of our appreciation. Val then asked Maggie to thank those from the club who had helped to make our day such a success - Manager Gregg for his input pre event and assistance with computer connections during the day, the Greens staff for producing such a wonderful course for us to play and of course the Bar and Catering staff for looking after us pre and after golf. Everything went extremely well.
Now to the Prize winners:
1st Nicola WOODHOUSE, Michelle PENDRY, Pat HAWTHORN and Elaine WEST, all from The Warwickshire GC who came in with a fantastic 84 points
2nd A Team from Rugby GC made up of Hazel OAG, Julie BROOM, Linda LONG and Helen FLEMING who scored just one less - 83 points and who pipped the Team from Oakridge on Countback.
3rd An Oakridge GC Team of Andrea MACE, Jayne HALES, Lynn SEWARD and Alicia KEMP who also returned 83 points
Best Front 9 With an excellent score of 41 points, a team from Coventry GC consisting of Lady Captain, Maggie BOURTON, Jenny ARNOLD, Madeleine HARVEY and Jan WHETSTONE
Best Back 9 With a fantastic 43 points a team from Ladbrook Park GC who were represented by Lynda HARTLE, Anne TAYLOR, Lorraine McCRACKEN and Meg SWINBURNE
Val thanked everyone who had participated and particularly congratulated all of the winners
Finally, special thanks were given to Vet's Competition Secretary, Rosemary Cole who had been at the club from 7.30 a.m. to after 7.30 p.m. organising the day and inutting the scores together with her helpers, Anne Wardle, Iris Lane, Sue Butler and Lindsey Brooks.
