CLAIRE HOWELLS CROWNED VET'S CHAMPION
The Vet's Championship eventually was played on Monday 9th August, having been cancelled due to bad weather back in June. Leamington & County Golf Club stepped forward at the last minute to host the event and we were grateful for their help, especially that of the Manager, Bryan Frazer.
Monday 9th August was the day and some 47 ladies had signed up to play, with a couple cancelling on the day and with lots of prizes to be competed for, it looked set to be a good day. Even the weather, after a shower when the first group started, was kind to us and with the weather set fair and the course looking very green and lush with the greens running well, albeit a little slow for some of us, we set off in anticipation of making a good score.
Some hours later, when the final groups had come in, it was obvious that alot of the players had found the playing conditions quite difficult but obviously that did not apply to all! Our Captain, Sue BUTLER managed a fantastic 70 Nett to win the overall Nett prize and our President, Val BARKER came in with a Nett 75 to take the over 65's Nett prize. For the third year in a row the Champion was Claire HOWELLS who scored a Gross 88, just pipping Sheila CARDWELL on countback - well done Claire.

Congratulations to all the winners and a special thanks to all who played in this event.
A plant was presented to Leamington Lady Captain as a thanks for the help given and a special thank you was given to Mr Captain, who acted as Starter for everyone - he did comment that he enjoyed it!! Greens staff, Caterer and Bar Staff were all thanked as they had contributed considerably into making this a very good day. A special thank you was given by President Val Barker to Rosemary Cole the Vet's Competitions Secretary, for all the re-arrangement difficulties she had endured for this competition, not to mention all of those other competitions in 2020 and 2021 that had to be cancelled, her work has been much appreciated.
