Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs have decided to postpone or cancel every County event until the end of April, at the earliest, in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The WUGC Statement read:
With regard to the Coronavirus outbreak, Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs have been keeping a close eye on the ongoing developments, whilst attempting to give advice to our Clubs where we can.
We are not experts in this field, and have therefore followed the advice from government and England Golf.
Our sole aim is to 'do the right thing’ throughout since we, as an organisation, do not want to add unnecessarily to the spread of the virus as a result of any work or activity we are involved with.
Therefore, with this in mind, we have taken the decision to cancel or postpone every County event until the end of April, at the earliest. We will review the situation on April 17th (or before, if possible) and send out another update at this time.
The events listed below are those that are directly managed or directly involve the Warwickshire Golf Union where we have the following updates:
March 28th - The Warwickshire Cup Final: Postponed, with the hope it will be played over the Summer.
March 29th - First and Second Team Men’s Friendly Matches v Leicestershire & Rutland: Both matches cancelled for 2020.
April 16th-17th - Boys Four Counties: Postponed, with the hope it will be played in October half term (tbc).
April 19th - First and Second Team Men’s Friendly Matches v Northamptonshire: Both matches cancelled for 2020.
April 20th - County Membership Scheme event (The Vice Presidents Bowl): Cancelled for 2020.
April 30th - Seniors Team Spring Meeting: Cancelled for 2020.
We will also be cancelling any County face-to-face meetings, Coaching or Team Get-togethers throughout this period.
Further updates will follow in due course, including from England Golf, so please keep a close eye on the various media channels.
