Boys Under 14 Team News

The Under 14 squad has taken the 'New Beginning' literally.

We held a pre-season practice day at Kenilworth Golf Club on 1st April (no April fool...it did take place!!)

A great turn out of 14 boys from the squad attended and were handed their new kit on arrival and the boys were reminded that they are an important part of Team Warwickshire.

This is the first time we have brought the squad together before the season gets going and the feeling was that it was a really worthwhile day.

We started by using two par 3 holes to trial their short game skills, which has been the main thrust of all County Coaching over the last two years.

This was followed by a Stableford over 18 holes on the main course from the back tees.

Richard Clark and Richard Mcinnes, who have volunteered to assist our Team at the matches, were on hand to help with the organisation and the Club Professional, Adam Gray, assisted by setting out the par 3 course.

All the boys demonstrated their confidence on the course and enjoyed the experience and the chance to get to know their team mates better.

Following the golf some small prizes were given out with Sachin Kohli winning 1st prize in the 18 hole Stableford with 42 points and we had a tie for the short game prize which was shared between Lucas Laurie and Charlie Lamb.

The Under 14 group is the youngest in the County with this year being the first time many have represented their County. I am sure this preseason group session has brought the boys, much closer than they were before and we hope to see the benefits of this reflected in our results during the season.
