WLCGA Seniors V Staffordshire 2nd Team Seniors at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on Monday 7th July 2025
WLCGA Seniors hosted Staffordshire Seniors 2nd Team in the second Tri County Morgan Trophy Match at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on Monday 7th July.
A small amount of rain ensured the course and particularly the greens were a little more receptive to approach shots.
Two new players Helen Beston from Olton and Charlie Ashley acquitted themselves well, both winning their matches alongside their playing partners .
Four of the matches were close ,finishing on the 18thgreen , but three of these fell in Warwickshire’s favour .
It was lovely to see our Lady President Sue Timberlake back to match fitness and competing on our behalf.
The final result was a 6-2 win for Warwickshire and because we had drawn with Hereford and Worcs earlier in the season it meant that we WON the Morgan Trophy.
The trophy was presented by Staffs Captain Liz Merryman.
I am so proud of the Seniors Team. Well done a great result.
