Warwickshire Golf

 

On Sunday 13th April WLCGA Seniors played their annual match against the Junior Girls.  President, Sue Timberlake was once again present to start us all off from the first tee

 

The first match between Jenny Arnold and Pat Hale who took on Erin Thompson and newcomer Isla Pallet, had a tightly contested game resulting in a 2/1 win to the youngsters

 

The second match saw the Shirley pairing of Sue Butler and Carol O Hare take on Serafima Taylor and Emilia Sandler . Serafima's first drive of over 200 yards, leaving her with just a short wedge to the green was an indication that this was also going to be a tough match for the Seniors.  Carol and Sue fought hard but eventually lost their match on the 17th. Another 2/1 victory to the girls

 

The Seniors third pairing of Lyn Seward and Sue Westall matched up against Lily Knee and rookie Anaya Sukhija of Shirley, also lost 4/3 .

 

Finally Julie Ward and Sue Pearse took on Jessica Davies and Lauren Clarke . Despite playing some excellent golf the Seniors pair just lost out on the 18 th finishing 1 down.

 

Despite the Seniors losing all 4 matches it was golf that was the overall winner after all it’s not in many sports where the oldies can take on the youngsters on such a level playing field.

 

I was privileged to watch some great competitive golf today from both teams and it’s lovely to know Warwickshire has a bright future ahead
