Derbyshire v WCLGA Seniors.
On : Tuesday 24th September 2024
At : Chevin Golf Club, Derbyshire
Format : 4 Ball better ball scratch match play.
With the rains pouring over the weekend beforehand, I was thinking this fixture may well have to be postponed or cancelled. Fortunately the weather in Derbyshire was very kind and we had a beautiful pleasant day to play at Chevin. A course with spectacular views over the Derbyshire countryside, with lush fairways and slowish greens.
Well worth the 2 hours it had taken me to get there due to terrible Birmingham traffic. But its not all about me!
I may well have confused our team slightly too by telling them many weeks ago we were playing with shots when in fact the match was a Scratch match. But that didn’t seem to hinder us too much.
Bacon and egg baps served before play our stomachs were full and ready to go.
Rachel Rusted, 1st team Captain led the field out alongside Judith, Seniors Past Captain and brought in the first win 3 and 1. The next four, four balls not quite on the same path with losses although Gill Thorpe and Lesley James lost their match on the 18th. Marie and myself counteracted that with a win on the 18th. Followed by Pat Hale and Jane Brennan coming in with an impressive 5 &4 and then Jayne Hales & Sandra Kerby winning 1 up.
So final result Draw 4-4. Definitely a friendly match.
Chevin put on a fabulous supper of homemade lasagne followed by apple crumble. All this for £20 plus tip.
No colours awarded but thanks to all the ladies for playin
