Warwickshire Senior Ladies v Gloucestershire Vets at Edgbaston Golf Club on Monday 13th May.
This was to be the last time that we would play Gloucestershire as it had been decided that going forward this fixture would be dropped to help reduce the number of friendly games that the Seniors had in order to relieve the pressure of having to find venues for such a large number of matches.
Gloucestershire Vets are generally made up of Ladies with handicap index of 18 plus. The lowest HI was 10.3 and highest 32.1.
After a little bit off cajoling , I managed to get a full team of 16 ladies with massive assistance from Edgbaston Ladies. Hoping this would make all the difference for us to overcome the high number of shots that the home team were giving. One pairing had 21 shots to give with another 19 and many others in the teens - it was going to be an uphill struggle.
The weather was dry with only a few spots of rain at the very end. Edgbaston was looking good with many favourable comments from both Home and Away.
The scene was set…………….. the results not quite so.
Warwickshire lost by 3 games to 5.
Colours were awarded to Claire Corderey Campbell, Suzy Griffiths and Tina Lewis.
We had 4 new players : Catriona Crombie, Ali Gledhill, Carol Hayes and Karen Simpson. Carol Hayes from Walmley and the others from Edgbaston GC
