WVLGA  v  Worcestershire & Herefordshire 1^st Team

This was our last 1^st Team County match of the year which was played at Ladbrook Park G C on Wednesday September 20th. Both teams knew that they were unable to win the Tri Counties Trophy as Staffordshire had already achieved this accolade for 2017. However this did not dent the competitiveness between the Warwickshire and Worcestershire teams. We were honoured to have both County Vet’s Presidents present as well as the County Golf Captain’s for Warwickshire and Worcestershire playing for their relevant teams.

As the teams teed off on the first hole, the course looked very inviting with very green fairways which had not long been mowed. The recent heavy showers of rain meant there was little run on the fairways with the rough thick and challenging. The greens however were slick and reasonably fast. The weather too was kind. Earlier in the week forecasts had suggested rain for the match – but fortunately this held off until much later in the day.

There were equal decisive scores on both sides. The final result rested on the last 4 Ball out on the course. As they left the 18^th green All Square, our final result was a Draw.
