NEW PRESIDENT and CAPTAIN FOR THE VETS
Following the Prize Presentation of the 3 Ball Alliance on Thursday 17th October, the Warwickshire Vets held their 65th AGM. Reports were presented by President, Captain, Competitions Secretary and Hon Secretary giving an insight into the hard work undertaken by the Vet's Committee and the successes of the Teams and Competitions over the past year and these were warmly received. Two changes to the Vet's Constitution were put forward, as below, which were unanimously agreed upon and which will now be incorporated for future years:
1 TERMS of OFFICE
Officers (Secretary, Treasurer, Competition Secretary) on the invitation of the Committee, may stand for re-election for a further term
2 SUBSCRIPTION
Annual Subscriptions, due on 1st January, will be reviewed by the Committee annually. Subscriptions are due by 31st January and once paid, members are eligible to play in Competitions, including any new members who pay their Subscriptions on joining throughout the year.
NB The Annual Subscription for 2020 will remain at £5.00 per person
Outgoing President Liz WOOLF, then informed the members present that she was standing down after 2 very enjoyable years and her successor would be Val BARKER. She stated that "Val has been a member of Shirley Golf Club for nearly 40 years, has been a single figure handicap golfer (although this is rising now!!), has been Club Ladies Captain in 2007 and Vet's Captain in 2013. She served on the Vet's Committee for many years and has thoroughly enjoyed playing in many matches and competitons over the years." The President's badge of office was then handed over. Val then presented Liz her Past President's badge.
Incoming Lady Captain for 2020 is Sue BUTLER from Robin Hood GC, who was handed her badge of office by outgoing Captain Gill THORPE and Sue said how delighted she was to be asked to be Captain. She also stated that her Vice Captan would be Ann WARDLE from Walmley GC.
