Maxstoke Park Golf Club was the venue for the Warwickshire Vets final competition of the year, the 3 Ball Alliance. Discussions had taken place during the week as to whether the course would be open and suitable for play in the days leading up to Thursday 17th October, with the decision finally made to go ahead. With the amount of raInfall recently, we were all expecting the course to be very wet and to that end we were not surprised that underfoot it was in parts. However the Greens Staff had done a splendid job in getting the course ready for play and we thank them for their endeavours. With 90% handicap allowance in this Stableford competition, with 2 scores to count in each team, some 102 competitors set off in glorious sunshine and the rain forecast for early afternoon onwards did not appear until much later.
The team of Karen HEARN, Christina KENNEDY and Anne TURNER sat in the Clubhouse for ages with their leading score of 66 points (not an easy day for scoring!!) only to be pipped in the later stages by two higher scores recorded!! At least they were still in the prizes.
Maxstoke Lady Captain, Sue BLAKE opened the Prize Presentation by offering a belated welcome to everyone, hoping that we had enjoyed our day at Maxstoke Park. She was then presented with a gift from the Vets' President. President Liz Woolf in her final presentation then handed out the prizes as below and congratulated not only the winning teams but everyone who had played today.
