After the beautiful weather of the previous week and then downpoors over the weekend, Monday 23rd April proved to be excellent golfing weather. if not a little windy as the day wore on. The venue for the Vet's Spring Better Ball Stableford Competition was Robin Hood Golf Club and with 51 pairs in the field, this was going to be a good test of golf. Unfortunately, due to the recent rain Buggies were not allowed on the course with several players having to pull out. The course was prepared very well at this early stage of the year, but my it did seem to play every inch of it's length and unusually for Robin Hood, the greens were very slow, which fooled a few players.
First card of the day to be returned was one from locals Lorraine BALDWIN and Sandra KERBY whose score of 36 points sat at the top of the leaderboard for most of the day, only to be pipped for first place by the experienced Copt Heath pairing of Jane JONES and Liz MOVERLEY who came in with an excellent 40 points, thus winning the Trophies.
