GIRLS' STABLEFORD SERIES - Round 2

The second of the Stableford Series was played at Stratford Oaks Golf Club on Sunday 26 June 2016.  It started off as a beautiful sunny day (despite a cold wind) but very soon it starting raining and it didn’t stop until the last of the 18 hole competitors were coming off the course.   Once again the scores were magnificent and thanks must go to Andy MASON, Head Greenkeeper and his staff for the pristine condition of the course.

Grateful thanks must go to the ladies of Stratford Oaks who accompanied the 9 hole and 6 hole girls and who also acted as spotters and got thoroughly wet for their trouble.   Special thanks to Rosemary COLE, Ladies Captain for all her help, she also accompanied one of the groups and  presented the prizes and to her husband Ralph who acted as starter.   Nigel POWELL, Director of Golf was also a great help and support and thanks are due to him also.

In the 18 hole Competition, Megan GEE  from Maxstoke Park playing in only her  third County competition (and the other two were 9 hole competitions!) scored 41 points.   She currently plays off 35 but not for much longer.   Runner up was Amelia MACHIN from Kenilworth playing off 27 who scored 39 points and she is also due a handicap cut.   Well done girls – in the wet conditions those are magnificent scores.  In point of fact all the girls played really well.

In the 9 hole competition the winner was Ruby KITCHINGMAN from The Warwickshire playing off 36 and scoring 25 points, followed by Kate SMITH from Marston Lakes Golf Club playing off 53 and scoring 24 points.

In the 6 hole competition the winner was Rebecca SANDOZ from Moor Hall  playing off 54 and scoring 15 points.   She was followed by Elizabeth SUMNER , Robin Hood Golf Course who scored 11 points and Heather GILKS, Coventry Golf Course and playing in her first competition, who scored 10 points.  Both girls were playing off 54 handicap.   Well done to them all.
