NEW UNIFORMS for JUNIOR GIRLS FIRST MATCH of 2016

Warwickshire Junior Girls looked extremely smart in their new County uniform which they wore for their first match at Edgbaston Golf Club which was the venue for the 2016 Warwickshire Ladies Vets v Warkwickshire Girls played in chilly conditions on Sunday 24th April.  This year the match consisted of a Singles match and 4 Fourball better ball matches with 2 Greensome matches to give some of our less experienced golfers a taste of a different format playing alongside more experienced Warwickshire lady Vets.

The match was won by the the narrow margin of 3/2 by the Warwickshire Girls Team.

Warwickshire Girls secured the first point when a very tight match between Maria TOLEDO BAILEY (Walmley) playing off 8 and Pate HALE (7) was won by Maria on the final hole securing the win with a chip from off the green and a very confident single downhill putt.

Another very tight match was played between Ellie LEECH (Robin Hood), Warks Girls Captain and Lauren BEAMAN (Moor Hall) against Angela DAWSON and Marsha BUTTON.  The girls were trailing after the first 9 holes but pulled back with some excellent golf on the back nine to finish one up.

The final point which secured the victory for the Warwickshire Girls came from Kate LYTH (Copt Heath)and Rebecca BRADBURY (Hatchford Brook) who finished 2 up with one to play, against Jane BETTS and Jane COLMAN.

Warwickshire Girls were not to have things all their own way with two victories going to the Vets for Sue HART and Carol O’HARE defeating Grace WILKINSON (Coventry Hearsall) and Ella DONOHOE (Robin Hood) who managed to take the game to the 18th and for Heather BISSENDEN and Lindsey McDONAGH closing their match against Amelia MaACHIN (Kenilworth) and Jessica McGHEE (Rugby) on the 16th.

Warwickshire Girls are grateful to all the Warwickshire Ladies Vets who played in these matches but in particular to Val BARKER and Iris LANE, and Chris MACHIN and Chris COPPER, who played Greensome matches to provide some of our younger golfers with the benefit of their match playing experience.  The girls involved in the Greensomes were Jodie WOOD (Shirley), Georgina BEAMAN (Moor Hall), Victoria BEARD (Shirley and Robin Hood) and Ruby KITCHINGMAN (The Warwickshire).  Congratulation to all the girls and in particular Georgina and Victoria for whom it was their first match.

Our thanks go to all involved in particular Edgbaston Golf club for hosting this match and to Sue Timberlake, Warwickshire Vets Captain, for arranging the fixture.
